When Do You Need Disclosure?
Virtual staging involves adding furniture and decor to empty room photos using AI or digital editing. Under California AB-723 (effective January 1, 2026), virtually staged images are considered "digitally altered" and require:
- A disclosure statement on or adjacent to the image
- The unaltered original available (or linked) on websites you control
